The Art Nouveau Centre was opened by HM Queen Sonja of Norway on 6 June 2003, and is a national centre for art nouveau/ Jugendstil. The centre occupies the listed Svaneapoteket pharmacy building, right in the heart of Ålesund. Much of the original interior of the building has been preserved and restored. The centre has permanent and temporary exhibitions spread over three floors. Exhibits include a broad selection of Norwegian art nouveau objects, from advertising to jewellery, in addition to several multi-media shows.
 

Role in the Partage Plus project: Altogether, the Art Nouveau Centre will digitise 200 architectural drawings and 400 photographic images. Also, 2200 three-dimensional images of Art Nouveau glass, silverware and stoneware are going to be made in the course of the project.
