Fundacja Muzeum Wojciecha Weissa (WWMF), Krakow, PL

The Wojciech Weiss Museum Foundation was set up owing to the initiative of the artist's family in order to protect the legacy of this great painter of Poland, prominent symbolist artist, colourist, professor and rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow (1875–1950). The Foundation also takes care of works of Weiss’ wife, Aneri Irena Weiss (Irena Silberberg) and their collection of applied arts and the large archive. The mission of the Foundation is first of all to establish and open for the general public a museum which would bring together the works of Wojciech Weiss and his entourage. The Foundation pursues a vigorous exhibition activity, and has already organized a number of exhibitions in the institutions of key significance for Polish and European culture. This year (2012) few of Wojciech Weiss’ works were shown in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh and in the Musée de la Ville de Strassbourg.
The Foundation cooperates with numerous universities and research institutes by providing collection and archive for research. It verifies the authenticity of the works by Wojciech Weiss and issues appropriate opinions. The Foundation also protects Weiss’ copyrights.

Role in the Partage Plus project: The  WWMF will digitise 380 oil paintings, drawings, prints and photographs by Wojciech Weiss.
