National Museum Warsaw and Partage Plus project awarded with the Sybilla 2015 prize

The National Museum Warsaw (MNW) received the Polish Sybilla 2015 award in the category "Best Digitisation Project" for the participation in the Partage Plus project. The international project kicked off in March 2012 with the aim of digitizing and 3D scanning more than 79.000 art works from the Art Nouveau period. All items were made available via the Euopeana platform and can be accessed under the following link. The Partage Plus team, composed of 25 partner institutions from all over Europe, feels immensely honoured by this award and thanks the organizers of Sybilla 2015 for this mention.

Europeana virtual Exhibition: Art Nouveau

Europeana has created a virtual exhibition about Art Nouveau that showcases Art Nouveau content available in Europeana. Provided with extensive curatorial information, this virtual exhibition allows users to learn and discover even more about the displayed items. The virtual Art Nouveau exhibition is available in English, French, Dutch, Polish, Spanish and Latvian.

About the exhibition: "For a brief and brilliant period at the end of the 19th century – starting around 1890, and tailing off before World War One – Art Nouveau dominated the cultural scene. Everything from domestic furnishings and decorative art to architecture and advertising was characterised by its curvilinear elegance and organic forms inspired by nature. Even today, more than a century after the emergence of Art Nouveau, artists and designers continue to be inspired by the floral elements, natural features and colours of this enduring style."
