MUO: Face of Art Nouveau - Impact of Time
The Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb opened a photography exhibition of Croatian Art Nouveau architecture on 25 September. Architecture enthusiasts were invited to participate via social networks and forums dealing with Croatian cultural heritage. Once the candidates have submitted photos, a team of experts has selected about 50 works. The photos that meet the standards will be included in the project.
This exhibition is inspired by Partage Plus and the idea that besides informing the public, the public can be more involved in the project. It is conceived as a kind of continuation of cooperation with the public started at the International Art Nouveau Day (show and tell event).
With this exhibition authors have tried to bring out the pearls of Croatian Art Nouveau architecture, the ones that are already well known, and the ones rather hidden. The old, decaying buildings are being diligently recorded for the project while they are waiting for their reconstruction that might never come. One of the aims of the exhibition is to raise awareness about the importance and state of Croatian Art Nouveau architecture as a part of the European heritage.
The exhibition was held during the European Heritage Days.
